Sorry Star Wars fans, but this one isn’t for you. This week my mind has been spinning with thoughts of “force.”
Have you ever tried to force something? For better or for worse? Maybe you’re trying so hard to make something work or maybe it’s the complete opposite and you’re trying so hard to avoid something from happening. It’s one of the challenges we often “force” upon ourselves…
Yet in the end, how well does the forcing work out for you?
I’m a strong believer in “the powers of the Universe.” If something is meant to be, it will be. It doesn’t matter how many hurdles are placed between you and the destination, it will be. Time, place, how – those are all things that will fall into place if/when the time is right.
However, the opposite is true too. Have you ever already had something, but you had to force yourself SO hard to believe that it was the right thing for you? Have you had to invest way too much energy into something just because you felt you needed it or deserved it or had an inexplicable draw to it? Me too. It’s like hammering a square peg into a round hole.
The funny thing is – it doesn’t matter how much we force to keep or avoid something if it is truly meant to be in our life (or leave our life) I believe it will make its way in (or out of) there one way or another. If there’s a will in the Universe, there’s a way.
This isn’t to say you shouldn’t try things. Giving things a real good go and working through difficulties or challenges. Those are also part of the natural flow of life. It’s not like you can go “I could work my ass off and start this brilliant business, but…nahhhhhh. If I’m meant to make a million dollars, it will just ‘happen’.” It doesn’t work like that.
I’m talking about the more general forces of life. For example, I have had a couple of jobs where I’ve been hammering that square peg. I wanted things to work out so badly, but it didn’t matter. Every turn I made in the position, a wall was thrown up in front of me. Eventually, I was forced to make decisions or find a new path. Sometimes it takes days, weeks, years and a whole lot of banging your head against a wall, but in the end, the Universe wins.
Recently, I’ve been giving into the flow of life more. Not completely, as it’s a struggle for me, but just enough to listen a little closer to my body and my mind. Taking a step back and assessing if something is right or if I’m forcing. It’s been a trying process, but a refreshing one. When you’re not putting someone or something under the microscope, it’s really a freeing feeling, because in the end if it’s meant to be it will be.
And if there’s a will, there’s always a way. 🙂
Let go and go with the flow.
